Minister of Finance of Belarus: The country intends to agree with Russia on the refinancing of part of its debt

Minister of Finance of Belarus: The country intends to agree with Russia on the refinancing of part of its debtMinister of Finance of Belarus Yury Seliverstov, speaking on the TV channel "Belarus 1", He stated, that the country intends to negotiate with Russia on the refinancing of part of its debt.

As the head of the Belarusian financial department noted, Moscow covers up to 70% loans from Minsk, while the discussion of a further plan of action in this direction is necessary in view of the, that the European lending market for the country is closed due to economic sanctions.

We have obligations to repay debts to the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSR), there are also interstate loans, which we took from Russia under different circumstances. There is also a solution, providing for the receipt of borrowed funds for the state budget on the Russian stock exchange instead of European institutions, who imposed sanctions against us. It's not about increasing borrowing., but about refinancing those debts, which we already had, but not on 100%, but in some part, to make it easier for us to repay and service them, the Minister emphasized.

As Seliverstov clarified, this issue has already been discussed at the level of leaders of both countries, the decision was taken: it remains only to draw up some agreements on this matter.

note, that in November last year the press service of the Belarusian government reported that, that the parties signed an agreement on the allocation of a loan to Minsk in the amount of 105 billion rubles for the implementation of import substitution projects. A few months before, First Deputy Minister of Economy of Belarus Yury Chebotar, that both countries have identified a number of joint projects for import substitution, the total amount of financing of which amounted to 1,3 billion (about 87,8 billion rubles).

Earlier, the Republic of Belarus proposed to the Russian Federation to develop joint investment projects, aimed at import substitution in the face of sanctions from the West. About allocation by Moscow 1,5 billion (about 101,3 billion rubles) President of the country Alexander Lukashenko also spoke to Minsk to participate in import substitution programs within the framework of agreements with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Recall, that this year, the total amount of external debts of the Republic of Belarus, which she must pay, including their maintenance, is 4,7 billion (317,5 billion rubles). Author:Egorenkov Alexander Photos used:https://minfin.gov.by/
