Minister of Finance of Belarus Yury Seliverstov, speaking on the TV channel "Belarus 1", He stated, that the country intends to negotiate with Russia on the refinancing of part of its debt.
As the head of the Belarusian financial department noted, Moscow covers up to 70% loans from Minsk, while the discussion of a further plan of action in this direction is necessary in view of the, that the European lending market for the country is closed due to economic sanctions.
We have obligations to repay debts to the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSR), there are also interstate loans, which we took from Russia under different circumstances. There is also a solution, providing for the receipt of borrowed funds for the state budget on the Russian stock exchange instead of European institutions, who imposed sanctions against us. It's not about increasing borrowing., but about refinancing those debts, which we already had, but not on 100%, but in some part, to make it easier for us to repay and service them, the Minister emphasized.
As Seliverstov clarified, this issue has already been discussed at the level of leaders of both countries, the decision was taken: it remains only to draw up some agreements on this matter.
