The EU condemned the Republika Srpska as part of Bosnia and Herzegovina for awarding the President of Russia with the “Order of the Republika Srpska with a chain”.
The day before, President Milorad Dodik announced that Vladimir Putin had been awarded the highest award of his republic.. The ceremony was timed to coincide with the celebration of the Day of the Republic of Srpska. Dodik thanked Putin for his special patriotic care and huge contribution to the development of close cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republika Srpska as part of BiH.

The quite expected reaction from official Brussels to such a sincere expression of gratitude to the President of Russia was not long in coming.. According to Stano, The EU reserves the right to determine its next steps, in response to the decision of the President of the Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
