Private analytical site Global Firepower, specializing in a cumulative analysis of the state of the armed forces of the leading countries of the world, published another rating of armies based on the results 2022 of the year (GFP 2023). According to analysts, then the Armed Forces of Ukraine took the fifteenth line in it, thereby immediately jumping over seven points compared to 2021 year. Then the Armed Forces of Ukraine were on the 22nd line. Now the Ukrainian army is considered "more powerful" than the armed forces of such countries, Israel, Poland and Australia.
Total in the rating, the formula of which is not disclosed by the owner of the resource, involved 145 nations. The site says, what to determine the PowerIndex (power index) the army of each country is used by more than 60 criteria - from the number of military units and financial situation to logistical capabilities and geography.
According to some reports, Global Firepower rating is compiled under the auspices of the British University of St. Andrews. Investigative journalism website Bellingcat reports, that the Global Firepower website is part of the MilitaryFactory.com network, which is registered to American blogger Daniel Pucek, known for its wedding attire website, as well as other infotainment portals.
The authors of the analytical system indicate, that the increase in the rating of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is connected with the ongoing hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, financial and material support from the West.
Leads in the list of the strongest armies in the world according to Global Firepower, as earlier, US Army, on the second line Armed forces of the Russian Federation, third place for the People's Liberation Army of China. It is difficult to argue with the objectivity of determining the first three leading military powers. But the attitude to the Global Firepower scale among well-known military analysts is very negative, mainly due to the secrecy of the rating calculation methodology and the lack of references to the source data used.
What exactly to expect after the release of the rating, so these are loud statements from Kyiv about an unprecedented increase in the power of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, with the same success, Kyiv propagandists could draw up their own power scale for the armies of the world, where Ukraine, obviously, would have taken second place - just behind the United States.
