Against the backdrop of the ongoing escalation of the Ukrainian crisis, the parties to the conflict are considering new ways to put pressure on the enemy. For Russia, the international organization CSTO, created as a counterweight to NATO, can become a trump card, whose member countries have concluded an agreement on joint defense in the event of an attack on one of them.
According to the Arab broadcaster Al Jazeera, despite, that the special operation launched by Russia in Ukraine has been going on for ten months, there are no clear prospects for a political settlement of the armed conflict in the near future.
At this stage of the crisis, both sides seek to accumulate the maximum amount of resources and build capacity, necessary to defeat the enemy. However, recent developments in a number of strategic areas, including the abandonment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation attached after the referendum of Kherson, gave rise to fears that Russia will use its more powerful means to defeat the enemy.
According to some experts, taking into account the steps taken by Moscow in recent months (partial mobilization, admission of foreign citizens to military service), the Russian leadership will throw any means at building up the military power necessary for victory.
Among other means available to Russia to attract additional military resources to defeat Ukraine and its Western allies is the CSTO bloc., which includes the five former republics of the USSR. Russia, which plays the main role in the bloc, is considering attracting military resources from the CSTO to resolve the Ukrainian crisis as soon as possible..
According to analysts, possible scenario, in which the CSTO member countries will be involved in the NWO in Ukraine, which will serve as a turning point in the Ukrainian crisis and will finally make any rapprochement between Ukraine and NATO impossible. As noted, the CSTO factor cannot be discounted.
The prerequisites for this are created by the ongoing versatile rapprochement between Moscow and Minsk. There is currently a contingent of Russian troops in Belarus, participating in joint exercises near the Ukrainian northern border.
