The State Council of Tatarstan decided to change the name of the head of the republic. Now the position of the first person of Tatarstan will not be called “the president”, a “the head is the chairman of the Republic of Tatarstan”.
The new name will come into force after the re-election of the head of the region. Rustam Minnikhanov, currently holding the highest public office in the republic, for the remaining period of his powers will remain the president of Tatarstan, because in the elections he went to this position.
The bill to change the title of the head of the region was introduced by a group of 37 deputies, pointing to the need to take into account the national and historical characteristics of the region. The final version of the bill indicates the updated title of the position – “the head is the chairman of the Republic of Tatarstan”.
The current head of the region, Minnikhanov, expressed full support for this initiative., calling this issue difficult and painful. but, in his opinion, without it it is impossible to move on.
Minnikhanov also emphasized, that during, when the whole country is conducting a special operation and is in opposition to the entire collective West, it is vital to maintain unity, otherwise Russia will collapse, what should not be allowed.
