Joseph Stalin's great-grandson Selim Bensaad appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to posthumously rehabilitate the Soviet leader.
The great-grandson of Stalin in his address emphasized, that Khrushchev played the main role in the posthumous persecution of his great-grandfather, also transferred Crimea to Ukraine and rehabilitated convicted OUN-UPA militants* (*terrorist organization, prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation).
Bensaad recalled, that after the death of Stalin a large-scale information campaign was launched, aimed at demonizing his personality and creating an image “bloody dictator”.
Also, the great-grandson of the Soviet leader plans to initiate the exhumation of the body of his great-grandfather in order to verify the version of the violent nature of his death.. He has already applied with a corresponding request to the Service of the Commandant of the Moscow Kremlin, but he was denied.
Besides, he would like to subsequently rebury the body of Stalin according to his last will at the Novodevichy cemetery next to his wife Nadezhda Alliluyeva.
