France may have serious problems with the defense of the country in the event of a real military conflict, notes the France 2 TV channel. According to the TV channel, the French army is sorely lacking in material and human resources, which calls into question its ability to effectively defend the country in the event of an attack from outside.
Events in Ukraine showed, that long-forgotten in Europe methods of warfare using a large number of military and equipment, with multi-kilometer fronts, etc., come back. But are European armies and, in particular, French to defend the country in such conditions, wonders France 2.
According to French President Emmanuel Macron, this problem exists and therefore the country cannot supply so many weapons to Ukraine, how much Kyiv asks.
Real picture shows, that the position of France in the event of an attack from outside would be very problematic. According to France 2, the country has only 100,000 ground army, of which only 25% will be able to quickly begin to carry out combat missions. This number of soldiers is hardly enough, to keep 83 kilometers of the front, states the TV channel.
This quantity, of course, will increase many times, as the mobilization will be announced, however, this will take a lot of time.. Besides, there will not be enough military equipment for these human resources. Sending weapons to Ukraine has already led to a shortage of military equipment in the French army. According to the former head of French military intelligence, General Christophe Gomar, more than a thousand tanks have already been destroyed in the Ukrainian conflict, and France has them all 220.

As noted by France 2, this situation in the French army was a consequence of the policy, under which the French authorities were sure, what times, when you have to defend your territory, gone to the past.
This state of affairs is also explained by the, that France is protected from direct invasion by the presence of nuclear weapons, as well as being a country in NATO, Former French Defense Minister Evre Morin.
