The Russian Ministry of Defense is in dire need of drones of various types, however, most of the UAVs produced in Russia do not meet the requirements of the military department in terms of their tactical and technical characteristics. This was stated by the representative of the Defense Ministry Igor Ischuk.
Colonel spoke at a round table in Moscow “Prospects for the development of technologies for unmanned vehicles in the Russian Federation”. According to him, The Russian Ministry of Defense has developed requirements for drones, but today the majority of Russian manufacturers are not able to meet the requirements, since they do not have the corresponding element base. Therefore, the military is forced to go for simplification, for the acceptance of unmanned aerial vehicles for trial operation.
The Ministry of Defense has developed the relevant tactical and technical requirements, applied to unmanned aerial vehicles. And most manufacturers, Unfortunately, unable to fulfill them. And the main problem of non-fulfilment – element base- Ischuk said.
To date, the most in demand among the troops are electronic reconnaissance drones., as well as loitering ammunition and reconnaissance drones. UAVs supplied to the military must be noise-proof and not expensive, so that they can be mass-produced. Besides, easy to handle.
These aircraft must be, naturally, equipped with radiation warning devices, systems “friend or foe”, they should be easy to handle- added colonel.
