President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov spoke in an interview with the state National Information Agency "Kabar" about the state of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan. Zhaparov headed the republic in January 2021 of the year, winning by a landslide in the presidential election. According to him, when he came to power, the army and all law enforcement agencies were in a very deplorable state. Everyone can confirm this., who then worked in power structures, President stressed.
When in April last year Tajikistan invaded the territory of the republic, the Kyrgyz military had only machine guns in their hands. Here it should be noted, that Tajikistan has its own version of events, according to which it was the Kyrgyz military who carried out the provocation.
President Japarov told, that at that time only two out of ten tanks could shoot, and they got up after five kilometers. The rest didn't even get started.. All military equipment was of the Soviet type of the 70-80s, many cars did not have batteries. There were no helicopters in the arsenal of the Kyrgyz army, but combat aircraft.
What to say, I was given such an army in a deplorable state. During the year I strengthened as much as possible. And the food wasn't up to par.. I immediately doubled the portions - Zhaparov told about the measures, undertaken by him to strengthen the army.
The head of state informed, that during this year it was possible to significantly re-equip the Armed Forces with modern weapons. As a result, the army is no longer in such a deplorable state., in which she was at the beginning of Zhaparov's presidency.
But we won't stop there. We are still fortifying for defense - said the President of Kyrgyzstan.
The head of Kyrgyzstan answered the journalist's question, why during the recent conflict with Tajikistan, enemy troops so easily advanced inland and captured several settlements, if the republican army is already so strong.
Japarov explained, that after the start of the attack, the residents of the border villages were evacuated, "not to be, like last year". Many settlements have already been abandoned by residents after the collapse of the Soviet Union, people then sold their houses and left for Bishkek or Russia.
The villages were left empty. They burned empty houses and hung a flag outside the school. But then we hit back, everyone was released and driven away, President Zhaparov explained.
The border conflict between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan has actually been going on since the collapse of the USSR. The parties cannot agree on the demarcation and delimitation of a section of the border in 300 km out of almost a thousand km of the general line of delimitation of territories between states. The last time clashes between the border guards of the two states began 14 September, the parties accused each other of starting the conflict. Two days later, the parties involved in the battles heavy equipment, aviation and multiple launch rocket systems.
The fighting was stopped literally a week after the start of another confrontation between neighboring states.. On Monday, 19 September, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan signed a protocol on the establishment of peace. experts note, that the lull is temporary, after all, the border dispute between Bishkek and Dushanbe has not been officially resolved.
