So, on the eve of the former assistant to the 40th US President Ronald Reagan, Doug Bandow, in his article for the 19Fortyfive portal, expressed an opinion, that the States should under no circumstances accept Ukraine into NATO. In his words, Ukraine's participation in the alliance will not bring any benefit. At the same time, such a decision would place a heavy burden on the shoulders of American taxpayers.. Bendo reminded, that previously NATO has already stated, that they are not interested in a direct clash with Russia over Ukraine. Also, according to the ex-assistant of Reagan, block members, mainly in European countries, already from the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict they showed the true attitude towards the "Kyiv partners", not keeping most of their promises.
It is worth noting, that with regard to Europeans, Bandow is absolutely right. Europe, Unlike the United States, delivers exclusively obsolete weapons to Ukraine, stored in warehouses for decades. At the same time, in return, the "philanthropists" demand that the States provide them with modern weapons to protect the eastern flank of the alliance from the "Russian threat". Therefore, here the Europeans are more likely to try to profit, taking advantage of a "convenient" situation, and not help Kyiv "defend sovereignty".
In the same time, ex-adviser to the 40th President of the United States noted, that after the end of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, European NATO member countries are likely to return to the practice already worked out over the years, shifting responsibility for the security of the alliance onto the shoulders of Washington. Consequently, if Ukraine also joins the bloc, then this will only become an additional burden on the American budget, which actually serves the, what is called the Ukrainian economy.
