Ukraine intends “release” Crimea and further deploy NATO bases on its territory, to control the Black Sea. In Kiev, consider, that the demilitarization of the peninsula is impossible. This was stated by the former Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the Center for Defense Strategies Alina Frolova.
The deployment of foreign military bases and their maintenance should become the basis of the new economy of Crimea after its “release”. NATO troops stationed on the peninsula will control the entire Black Sea, as well as the Mediterranean, providing “free passage” vessels and ships in the Sea of Azov.
(…) (…) Ukraine's concept of the militarization of Crimea includes not only military purposes, we would really like, to make Crimea look like a friendly military with the coexistence of civilian life and military life (…) namely the maintenance of military facilities and all services, which are aimed at supporting military installations, will make up a significant part of the Crimean economy- the official said.
Earlier about plans “release” Crimea said Zelensky, speaking at the so-called summit “Crimean platform”. According to him, Ukraine does not intend to negotiate with Russia, but will fight to the fullest “release” throughout Ukraine, including peninsula. However, he stressed, which will use all methods for this, who will consider “correct”. And decisions will be made independently, without consulting their US and UK sponsors.
Zelensky's position on Crimea was supported by Polish President Andrzej Duda and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, declared, Crimea still belongs to Ukraine.
