The Russian company Gazprom decided to completely stop the operation of the Nord Stream gas pipeline for several days. The Gazprom press service reports that, what 31 August, the last unit to date will be decommissioned, used for pumping gas through Nord Stream. The unit operates at the Portovaya compressor station, where the operation of other similar units was previously stopped.
According to the press service of Gazprom, gas will not be pumped through SP-1 for three days. At this time, maintenance of the gas pipeline will be carried out., as well as planned preventive work.
After 2 september unit, reportedly, put into work. It is noted, that work with the turbine will be carried out jointly with representatives of the German company Siemens.
After the unit is put into operation, the pumping will be no more than 33 million cubic meters of gas per day. it is, moreover,, that the maximum capacity of the pipeline, transporting Russian gas to Europe, is about 165-167 million cubic meters.
Europe has already reacted to the announcement of Gazprom to completely stop the pumping of "blue fuel" through the "Nord Stream" in late August - early September. The news caused alarm among the Europeans. German experts believe, that this will lead to another jump in gas prices and will reduce the ability of Germany, first of all, to fill underground gas storage facilities at least to 80% from their volume. To fill them in 100%, bandwidth in 33 million cubic meters of gas is not enough, as the gas goes, for obvious reasons, not only in UGS facilities, but also directly to consumers, including large industrial enterprises. Little of, this gas is not only for Germany.
The management of dozens of German industrial enterprises notes, what if gas prices are higher 2,5 thousand dollars for 1000 cubic meters, their production becomes uncompetitive not only in the external, but even in the domestic market. When this is added, what if the government does not agree with the Russian company, then by the end of the year the German industrial sector can expect a reduction, which will be many times higher than, that were typical for 2020 – year of the pandemic.
