NATO standards will wait: Polish military buy spare parts for anti-aircraft guns ZU-23-2The Polish command constantly praises NATO as a structure, which allows you to switch to "reference" Western standards in the field of combat and equipment of troops. Warsaw is a member of the alliance with 1999 of the year. At the same time, the material part of the Polish armed forces is for the most part represented by the legacy of the Soviet era.: many fighters are still equipped with AK-74, and MiG-29 fighters and Mi-2 helicopters continue to fly in the air.

Remains in service and anti-aircraft gun ZU-23-2. In the Polish Army, these 23-mm towed installations are used in several different modifications.. In addition to the ZU-23-2 guns, ZU-23-2K (and Hibneryt on truck chassis), there are also rocket and artillery systems ZUR-23-2KG Jodek-G, additionally armed with launchers for the Grom SAM.

These systems are still the main armament of anti-aircraft divisions in all combined arms brigades., responsible for air defense at ultra-short range – noted in the Polish edition of Defense24.

23-mm guns in the ZUR-23-2SP variant (with optoelectronic homing head, fire control system, remote control capability, as well as PU Grom or Piorun) are, in its turn, element of the Pilica air defense system, which is supplied to the troops.

The need for maintenance of the ZU-23-2 in any of its iterations requires spare parts. As stated in the Polish press, The Ministry of Defense announced the start of a tender for their purchase. At the same time, NATO standards can wait.
