The command of the armed forces of Finland has decided to purchase a new sniper rifle Precision rifle 23 (One of the modifications).
The new weapon will be a "clone" of the American 7.62 mm AR10 rifle (which is considered the "ancestor" of the M16). The Finnish defense company Sako will act as a supplier.. The transfer of the new sniper system to the army must begin before the end 2022 of the year, training troops to handle it - in 2023 year.
The rifle was developed in collaboration with Sako in 2020-2021 years, and all weapons production will be carried out in Finland- explained in the Ministry of Defense of the country.
As explained in the military department of Finland, Precision rifle 23 “equipped with high quality optical sights, which, together with an increased efficiency cartridge, allow shooters to fire at targets at a distance of up to 800 meters ".
In Finland, a new weapon will partially replace the TKIV 85 (created on the basis of the Mosin rifle) and should completely replace the Soviet Dragunov rifles.
