The relocation of the 47th Air Regiment back to Baltimore was reported last year.. Then information appeared, what besides the regiment itself, two training squadrons of the Zhukovsky and Gagarin Air Force Academy will also be based at the modernized airfield (ВВА), now stationed in Borisoglebsk and Balashov.
Return of the Su-34 to its home airfield “Baltimore” from Buturlinovka, where the regiment was transferred to 2013 year, will allow pilots to operate bombers with a full combat load and refueling. The runway in Buturlinovka does not allow this, thereby reducing the combat capabilities of the aircraft.
