Developed as part of ROC “Mite” for the Russian army the latest universal mine layer “UMZ-G” completed the stage of factory testing. The next step will be the state tests of the new machine.

Uralvagonzavod completed factory tests of a new universal minelayer “UMZ-G” on tracked chassis. Currently, prototypes are being prepared for state tests.. Test start dates are not given., RIA Novosti reported citing a source in the defense industry.

Universal mine layer “UMZ-G” belongs to the family of machines, developed within the R&D “Mite”. In addition to the tracked version based on the T-72 tank, there are options on the wheel. The tank base option is the heaviest, “UMZ-G” has mass 43,5 tons and carries nine launchers per 270 universal cassettes with mines.

Medium minelayer “UMZ-K” developed on the basis of an armored car with a three-axle chassis “Astace-70202-0000310”. when the mass 18,7 tons, it carries six installations with 180 cassettes. Small minelayer “UMZ-T” developed on the basis of a two-axle chassis “Typhoon-VDV”. Curb weight of the machine – 14,5 tons, the minelayer carries two installations on 60 cassette.

In early September of this year, the Ministry of Defense announced the completion of military tests of a new mining system., which included an engineering system for remote mining “Agriculture” and minelayer UMZ-K “Mite”. Combined under a single control, the complexes are capable of creating minefields of any configuration, including with already left passages for own troops.
