A new airborne assault regiment will be formed in Crimea, completion of organizational activities is planned for 1 December this year, According to the Ministry of Defense.
A new airborne assault regiment is being formed on the basis of the 56th airborne assault brigade, stationed in the city of Kamyshin, Volgograd region. It will be deployed in Feodosia, where the construction of a new military camp for paratroopers is underway. The first stage of facilities will be commissioned at the end of this year, construction of the second will be completed by the end of the next.
Commander of the Airborne Forces Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov arrived in Feodosia with a construction inspection, by the way for the second time. The commander personally supervises the construction of a new military town.
As previously reported, currently built or being completed in the military town: headquarters building, two soldier's dorms, each on 300 human, dining room on 750 places and two checkpoints – throughput (PPC) and technical, as well as a site for military and special equipment. Three more hostels and a park zone will be commissioned next year. Besides, to 1 September 2022 a new kindergarten will be built.
The new airborne assault regiment will be part of the 7th airborne assault (mountain) division (Novorossiysk). The Ministry of Defense is planning, that the paratroopers will strengthen the protection of Crimea against the backdrop of increasing NATO pressure in the Black Sea region.
