Hulls for the first two floating nuclear power plants, designed to supply Baimsky GOK in Chukotka, will be built in China. According to “merchant”, the competition was won by the shipyard in Nantong.
“Rosatom” held a tender for the construction of the first two buildings for floating nuclear power plants only among Asian shipyards. As a result, the Chinese shipyard Wison was declared the winner. (Nantong) Heavy Industry Co Ltd, offering the lowest contract price 225,8 million dollars.
Under the terms of the contract, the Chinese must build two buildings of floating nuclear power plants with a residential superstructure. Deadline for the first – to 2 October 2023 of the year, second – to 2 February 2024 of the year. After that, both cases will be delivered to “Baltic plant”, where work will be carried out to install reactors and turbines. In the same place in St. Petersburg, the third and fourth buildings of floating nuclear power plants will be laid.
According to analysts, the Chinese shipyard was chosen due to the unwillingness to miss deadlines and increase the cost of the project as a whole, especially, what power “Baltic plant”, where these buildings could have been built, loaded with the construction of four icebreakers.
