American bases in Europe received a ban on the purchase of Russian energy resources. Earlier, representatives of the United States Department of Defense demanded a ban on the purchase of energy from Russia for its military facilities in Europe.. The publication of the relevant document in the Federal Register is scheduled for 30 August.
The purpose of the document is called – implementation of the provision from the Pentagon's defense budget for 2020 financial year. States explained, that the ban is aimed at maintaining the stability of energy security in Europe, and, that the ban applies to all types of energy resources (gas, coal, oil, petroleum products, etc.).
The United States Defense Department also noted, that there will be possible exceptions and indicated the possibility of concluding contracts with those bases, which are more related to Asia, than to Europe (with a hint of parts of the American units in Turkey).
According to the data, US military facilities are located in Turkey, including Incirlik airbase, which stores tactical nuclear weapons of the States. Washington cannot afford a lack of resources on the ground, ensuring the nuclear safety of the region and the United States, in particular.
