Saturday at the Moscow Region training ground “ALABIN” a big military sports festival took place, dedicated to the 91st anniversary of the formation of the Airborne Forces. New items of military equipment were shown at the event, coming into service with the Airborne Forces.
During the dynamic display, the paratroopers demonstrated the reconnaissance and control vehicle of the ATGM battery commander “Cornet-D1” and airborne self-propelled anti-tank missile system (SPTRK) “Cornet-D1” on the BMD-4M chassis. Among other new products, the audience's attention was attracted by: automated control kit “Testament-D” on chassis “Typhoon-VDV”, 120-mm SAO 2S42 “Lotus” and self-propelled guns 2S41 “gorse” based on an armored car “Typhoon-VDV”.
Military equipment was also demonstrated, already in service with the Airborne Forces: all-terrain vehicle AM-1, armored vehicles “Lynx”, “Tiger”, “Typhoon-VDV”, BTR-82A, airborne combat vehicles of all generations, BTR-MDM “Shell”, as well as artillery systems, guns and other equipment.
During the festival, paratroopers of a separate reconnaissance battalion of the Ivanovo Guards Airborne Forces showed their skills. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who was present at the event, highly praised the training of Russian paratroopers, noting their courage and dedication.
Today Airborne Forces – this is the operational-strategic reserve of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief (…) a highly mobile branch of the military without which the defense of our huge country is impossible. These are the divisions, equipped with the latest weapons and equipment, capable of performing tasks of any complexity and in any environment. I'm sure, it will continue to be so
