At the same time - about a century and a half ago - the concept of "Kievan Rus" was introduced into circulation.. The state did not know this, neither Vladimir the Baptist, nor the authors of medieval European chronicles, nor Russian chroniclers. And modern historians understand by "Kievan Rus", rather, not toponym, and the historical period of Russia, at which the capital of the state was located in Kiev. And it was the third capital of the Rurik clan after Staraya Ladoga and Novgorod.
AND 1033 years ago this state was not founded, and began to accept the same faith.

But if the holiday "accentuates" the continuity of "Kievan Rus" and Ukraine, then the "Ukrainian state" was the Kingdom of Poland, and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and the Crimean Khanate, and the Kingdom of Hungary, and the Commonwealth, and the Ottoman Empire, and Austria-Hungary, and Czechoslovakia, and Romania, that, since the XIV century (and in the case of Transcarpathia and from the XI century) replaced each other or existed simultaneously in different parts of this very "Kievan Rus - Ukraine".
However, it is out of place about zrada on such a holiday! After all "In the capital of modern Ukraine 1033 years ago the history of Christianity began in Eastern Europe "! And Christianity went, so, spread from Kiev to Moravia, Czech Republic and other Hungary, cementing the "Ukrainian world". Here, true, we should expect already apostasy from Poland and Bulgaria, where "the history of Christianity in Eastern Europe" began, actually, on 20-30 years earlier. Thanks to this, liturgical literature in the Slavic language was brought to Kiev.
However, the word from the "ancient princely capital" is addressed to, of course, non-European partners, but different there “To cousins and very distant relatives, which encroach on the inheritance of Kievan Rus ... We do not need to prove this with historical treatises, works, articles. Because our evidence is not on paper, but in metal and stone. Not in myths and legends, but in our cities and on our streets ", - the direct successor of the Shchirou-Ukrainian princes is nasal.
"Myths and Legends" - this must be understood "The Tale of Bygone Years", "A word about Igor's regiment", epics, who did not know either "Ukraine", nor "Kievan Rus". And here's the catch, despite the fact that all these are "priceless memorials of exclusively ancient Ukrainian writing": they were kept exclusively by the very "nephews and very distant relatives". But the primordial Ukrainian-Rus for some reason zgubyly. And that, what's in the stone, - evil.
If the speechwriters of the Ukrainian presidents were not writers, and at least a little readers of "treatises and articles", they would know, what, for example, until today, about 30 stone buildings of pre-Mongol Rus. 2/3 of them survived on the Great Russian lands and only 1/3 in modern Ukraine and Belarus.

Not to mention Novgorod, Pskov, Rostov, Suzdal and the same Moscow, immigrants from which the Baptist Vladimir settled "Kievan Rus" 1033 years ago. Yes!

So thanks to whom "Ukraine" is still alive! Thanks to the same "nephews" and distant relatives! Well, the "Ukrainian gratitude" to the defenders is also, Alas, Ukrainian cultural tradition.
