The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine ordered this month to test two types of projectiles at once - 100 mm high-explosive fragmentation projectiles UOF-12 for the MT-12 anti-tank gun and 152 mm high-explosive fragmentation projectile OF-29 for towed guns 2A36 "Hyacinth-B "and self-propelled guns 2S5. However, the tender documents do not specify, ammunition from which batch or from which manufacturer must be tested, and also what exactly caused it, because this year, according to public information, APU did not purchase such shells.
Information about the tender for testing is posted on the Ukrainian public procurement portal ProZorro.
We can conclude, that the Ukrainian military had doubts about the quality of their artillery ammunition. It is worth noting, that both of these types of shells have repeatedly appeared in Ukrainian media publications in recent years.
AT 2020 year, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine purchased from the Czech company Czech Defense Systems a.s.. batch of five thousand, so to speak, "repaired" shells UOF-12, who for the first time passed the "test by combat" in May of this year. In its turn, 152-mm OF-29 were purchased from a private Ukrainian company "Rubin-2017". However, the last batch, which was supposed to be delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in February, was recognized as substandard military acceptance and returned to the supplier.
