As they write “Notifications”, citing sources in the Ministry of Defense, the military is inclined to continue purchasing patrol ships, since they are needed by the fleet to perform a whole range of tasks for the protection of coastal waters, fight against piracy, etc.. With a positive decision, the project 22160 will be finalized to eliminate deficiencies, identified during tests of ships in the Mediterranean Sea and the Arctic. In particular, the existing complex of weapons will be revised, he does not suit the sailors. Installation of a new air defense system is not ruled out.
To date, three patrol ships of the project are in service in the Black Sea Fleet. 22160. Head “Vasily Bykov”, which gave the name to the whole project, as well as serial “Dmitry Rogachev” and “Pavel Derzhavin” are part of the brigade for the protection of the water area and are deployed in Novorossiysk.
