Russia has begun work on the creation of small submarines. Relevant developments are carried out by the design bureau “Malachite”, follows from the annual report of KB for the last, 2020 year.
According to published documents, at “The malachites” two small submarines are being developed at once. We are talking about a multi-purpose nuclear submarine of small displacement “Gorgon” and a small non-nuclear submarine (NAPL) “Serval” with VNEU.
Work is carried out on an initiative basis, to date, technical proposals have been developed for both submarines and the appearance has been determined. No other development details.

Later, a modified version of the submarine appeared – “Piranha-T” with increased stock of weapons. Also in the design bureau was developed a project of small submarines P-550.
