One of the first to congratulate the CAR leader on the upcoming inauguration was Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The minister had a telephone conversation with Faustin-Archange Touadéra, to personally convey to him the best wishes in connection with the official assumption of office.

The diplomat also added, that Moscow will continue to assist the efforts of the Central African leadership to stabilize the situation in the country both on a bilateral basis, and as a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

Faustin-Archange Touadéra took the oath in the parliament building presided over by the head of the Constitutional Court. In an official speech, the head of state promised to ensure the triumph of the principles of law and justice throughout the country, and avoid the mistakes of the past.
