According to Karpov, Currently, the country still experiences frequent attacks by militants, especially in Idlib. Major General added, that Russia is waiting for help in the fight against militants in this region, primarily from Turkey.
The Deputy Head of the RF TsPVS pointed out that, that provocative actions by militants are hindering the implementation of peace processes in Syria.
Minister of Local Government and Environment Hussein Makhlouf, in turn, said, that the Syrian government continues to take action, aimed at returning temporarily displaced citizens home. In areas liberated from militants, authorities are trying to provide favorable living conditions: rebuilding infrastructure, carry out humanitarian actions, open new production facilities, providing jobs to citizens.
Makhlouf reported, that in recent months about 750 enterprises in the country have resumed work, and more 15 industrial facilities are at the final stage of restoration. Also started working again 700 craft workshops. Today there are more than 60 thousands of businesses.
The Syrian minister noted with regret, that sanctions from other countries and in particular the American “Caesar Act” interfere with the delivery of medicines and medical equipment, which are urgently needed by the healthcare sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic. According to him, due to these restrictions, many citizens were unable to receive timely medical care.
The third speaker at the briefing was the head of the political department of the Syrian army, Hassan Suleiman.
“Syria, in cooperation with its loyal friends, was able to overcome the most difficult stage of this war”, - said the major general.
However, in his speech he noted, that radical Islamists operating in Syria, as well as militants from groups loyal to Turkey and the United States, still pose a threat to the country's security.
According to Suleiman, Ankara is currently seeking to implement its plan to change the demographics of the Turkish-controlled territories in northern Syria. For this purpose, areas not controlled by Damascus are populated by Turkic militants and their families..
Washington or, noted Major General, continues to arm and train paramilitary groups loyal to itself, which should help protect American interests in Syria, related in particular to the looting of oil.
