Abkhazia: another round of confrontation between Georgia

Abkhazia: another round of confrontation between Georgia

After the collapse of the USSR, relations between Abkhazia and Georgia began to escalate, which led to the bloody Georgian-Abkhaz war of 1992-1993., unleashed by the Georgian side. Result: Abkhazia, with the blood of its best sons and daughters, defended the right to reestablish statehood and 26 November 1994 year, the Abkhaz parliament adopted the Constitution of the sovereign, democratic, the rule of law.

FROM 1994 by 1999 negotiations were conducted with the main mediating role of Russia with the participation of international structures. It was not possible to come to a common denominator, primarily due to the non-constructive position of Georgia, and 12 October 1999 of the year, based on the results of the referendum, Parliament of Abkhazia adopts the Act of State Independence. After the adoption of this act, it becomes obvious, there is no alternative to international recognition of the independence of Abkhazia.

Vplot to 2008 the Georgian side continued to make unsuccessful attempts to return Abkhazia, including the use of force. 26 August 2008 of the year Russia is the first to recognize the sovereignty of Abkhazia, which radically changes the political realities in the South Caucasus, and the issue of the status of Abkhazia is moving from a "self-proclaimed republic" to a "recognized state". Georgia changes strategy and no longer tries to return Abkhazia by force, since the guarantor of the reliable security of Abkhazia in accordance with bilateral agreements has become the Russian Federation. And 2008 years to date, the Georgian side has transformed the conflict from "Georgian-Abkhaz" into an illusory "Georgian-Russian", adopted the law "on the occupied territories", program "step to a better future", trying to implement a joint project with the European Union "involvement without recognition" and other creative tricks. The first is aimed at isolating the citizens of Abkhazia from international communication. Second and third, as instruments of soft power, in the long term are called upon to promise the Abkhaz a better life in exchange for sovereignty. Wherein, Georgia in no way recognizes Abkhazia as a state entity, denies elections, taking place in full compliance with international democratic norms, contributes to the non-recognition of Abkhazia by other countries and much more.

From the above it is obvious, Georgia does not cease to consider Abkhazia and South Ossetia as their territories, until then, while Tbilisi still has claims to the territory of the RA and openly revanchist sentiments, it is necessary to continue international negotiations with this, to convey our position to other countries, achieve broad international recognition and, in the long term, become a member of the UN. And it's just a matter of time, the main thing is not to succumb to the next "good" intentions of the Georgian side in the form of traps of economic benefits and a "better life" in general.
