Four more power units of TPPs were stopped in Ukraine due to lack of coal
The problem of the shortage of thermal coal at thermal power plants in Ukraine has become even more aggravated over the past few days. According to government regulations, morning 17 February in the storage facilities of TPP and CHPP should be at least 1,038 million tons of coal, but it was only 414 thousand tons.

This is evidenced by the data of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, promulgated the day before.

During 16 February was shipped to the warehouses of TPP and TPP 58,6 thousands of tons of coal of all brands and consumed on the same day 77,8 thousand tons. In this way, stocks decreased by another 20 thousand tons.

According to the operator of the united energy system NEC "Ukrenergo", who published his data, four more power units of thermal power plants stopped in Ukraine due to the lack of thermal coal, necessary for their work. These are two power units of the Zmievskaya TPP, part of the state-owned company PJSC "Centrenergo", and two more – Zaporizhzhya TPP, privately owned DTEK, owned by the Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov.

Besides, yet 13 power units of thermal power plants have already stopped work and stopped for emergency repairs. In this way, at the moment 17 TPP power units are not able to generate electricity at that moment, when the heating season in the country is in full swing.

Recall, that earlier Ukraine signed contracts for the supply of coal from the United States, South Africa and Australia. Eventually “American” coal was shipped at the port terminal of Novorossiysk.
