Japan does not intend to retreat from its positions and will persistently seek a solution of the territorial issue with Russia. This was stated by the General Secretary of the Japanese Cabinet of Ministers Katsunobu Kato.

В январе премьер-министр страны Ёсихидэ Суга заявил, что Япония намерена окончательно решить вопрос с принадлежностью южных Курильских островов (northern territories).
