The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to conduct anti-aircraft training. The military personnel of the anti-aircraft units of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade "Edelweiss" were involved in the training..
The name of this brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine copies the name of the 1st mountain infantry division of the Wehrmacht, involved in a number of war crimes, including on the territory of the Ukrainian SSR. It is unlikely that the command did not know about this, assigning such a name to a brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces.
The press service of the Armed Forces informs, that the Edelweiss anti-aircraft units practiced practical skills in destroying both air targets, and ground equipment of a conditional enemy. Portable anti-aircraft missile systems were used to hit targets (MANPADS), as well as self-propelled anti-aircraft guns ZSU-23-4 "Shilka".
According to the representative of the Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Edelweiss", at the first stage, tactical exercises were conducted with live firing during the combat coordination of the division. And in the future it is planned to prepare an anti-aircraft missile battery for the destruction of various targets, including armored vehicles.
During maneuvers ZSU-23-4 "Shilka" was used to fire at targets such as "hovering helicopter", BMP, BTR. Also, the fire was fired at the positions of the infantry of the mock enemy. The crews of the Igla MANPADS also used weapons against helicopters.
The maneuvers were carried out on the territory of the Rivne region.
Taking into account the well-known events with the Tu-154 and the Malaysian Boeing, any exercises of Ukrainian air defense crews turn into a real danger to civil aviation.
