US carriers may lose their advantage due to the latest missiles developed by Russia and China. As Business Insider writes, new anti-ship missiles represent “real threat” for aircraft carriers of the US Navy.
American edition notes, that Russia has developed and is successfully testing a hypersonic cruise missile “zircon”, reached speed during tests 8 Makhov. China, in its turn, in summer 2020 tested new long-range anti-ship ballistic missiles, hit the target ship in the South China Sea.
According to the author of the publication, new Russian and Chinese missiles could deprive American aircraft carriers “guaranteed benefits”, and aircraft carriers will stop playing “key role” in conflicts, in which the United States has been involved since the early 90s of the last century.

According to the author, missile defense is not capable of intercepting hypersonic missiles due to the speed and ability to change the trajectory. However, he admits, that all the capabilities of Russian and Chinese anti-ship missiles are still unknown.
