The Ministry of Defense of Russia began the transfer of an engineer-sapper unit from the peacekeeping brigade of the Central Military District to Nagorno-Karabakh. This is stated in the message of the military department.
As stated in the Ministry of Defense, military personnel, special technique and equipment is transferred by military transport aircraft Il-76 from the airfield “Ulyanovsk-Vostochny”.

The main task of Russian sappers will be to clear the area, roads and infrastructure, as well as engineering reconnaissance. Besides, they will ensure the preparation and maintenance of routes of supply and evacuation, water purification and other engineering tasks.
Meanwhile, Russian peacekeepers ensured the safety of refugees returning to Nagorno-Karabakh. Columns of buses with refugees, who left Yerevan, along the entire length of the road to Stepanakert, accompanied by patrols of the Russian peacekeeping contingent and military police.
