The assembly of a batch of Yak-130 combat training aircraft for the Vietnamese Air Force has begun at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. A screenshot of the assembled aircraft fuselage appeared on the web, made during the visit to the enterprise of the Minister of Defense of Russia Sergei Shoigu in August 2020 of the year.
As explained by the Vietnamese resource Baodatviet.vn, there is a Vietnamese flag on the Yak-130 fuselage, and the plane is marked with a serial number 130.12.05-103, in which “05” - buyer's code, “103” - third in a production batch, “12” – number of aircraft in the batch. In this way, It can be assumed, what are in the assembly, least, three Yak-130 for the Vietnam Air Force.
Vietnam signed a contract for the purchase of a squadron of combat training aircraft Yak-130 in 2019 year. The scope of supply is not less than 12 aircraft worth more than 350 millions of dollars.
Vietnam Air Force Yak-130 will replace obsolete L-39 aircraft made in Czechoslovakia, Vietnam which uses a 80-ies of the last century.
Presumably the new aircraft will receive the 915 th Training Wing, which formed two years ago in one of the air bases. Military unit also includes a training helicopter squadron, manned by Russian helicopters Mi-8.
According to military experts, the purchase of Yak-130 aircraft opens up the possibility of supplying Vietnam with modern Russian Su-35 or Su-30SM fighters.
Vietnam will become the sixth country, except Russia, adopted the Yak-130. This UBS is used in Algeria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Myanmar and Laos.
For our part, we note, that the UBS Yak-130 was modernized by specialists of the Irkutsk aircraft plant, taking into account the data, received from Russian pilots during operation.
