The U.S. Navy in the future will have more than 500 ships. As Defense News writes, the Pentagon intend to increase the fleet to 530 ships.
According to research, carried out by order of the American military department, to increase the number of ships, the US fleet will begin the transition to lighter ships amid the abandonment of aircraft carriers and large surface ships. In the future, the US Navy should include smaller surface combatants, unmanned ships and submarines, as well as expanded logistics support forces.

In the same time, according to the head of the Pentagon, 355 there may not be enough ships to confront Russia and China, therefore, he called for an even greater increase in US Navy forces.

– he said.
Currently, the US Navy consists of slightly less than 300 ready “to immediate execution of combat missions” ships.
