The development center of the S7 group of companies will develop a lightweight launch vehicle with a reversible first stage, work on it has already begun. This is stated in the press service of the S7 group of companies.

S7 announced, that developments on a new rocket with a retrievable first stage will be used to produce a medium-class launch vehicle, which will be launched from a floating cosmodrome “Sea launch”, owned by S7. Development details are not reported.

At the same time, Roscosmos announced the development of a rocket “Soyuz-5” (Irtysh), which should replace “Zenith”. First test launch “Irtysh” scheduled for 2023 year, the launch will take place from the cosmodrome “Baikonur”.

However, the S7 group of companies, redeemed “Sea launch” at 2016 year, previously stated, that it will develop its own launch vehicle for a floating spaceport.

Floating cosmodrome “Sea launch” currently located in the Russian Far East, it is planned to begin work on its restoration soon. As stated by the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin, a rocket will be used for launches “Soyuz-5” (Irtysh).
