In Ukraine, the next modernization of the 9P149 combat vehicle of the Soviet self-propelled anti-tank missile system 9K114 was carried out “Sturm-S”. The prototype was shown during a visit by the new Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleg Urusky of the State Enterprise Kiev Design Bureau “Ray”.

reportedly, a prototype of the 9P149 combat vehicle of the 9K114 self-propelled anti-tank missile system “Sturm-S” was created by KB specialists “Ray”. According to available information, tests of a prototype of the modernized complex are planned to begin in the near future.

As stated by the developers of the modernized complex, fighting machine “Sturm-S” equipped instead of the standard 9M114 ATGM developed in the design bureau “Ray” guided missiles RK-2V “Barrier-B” with laser beam guidance system. Declared firing range of Ukrainian missiles – 6 kilometers. Another change – application for target detection and missile guidance round-the-clock optoelectronic system OPSN-I developed by GP “Izium instrument-making plant”. The ball of the OPSN-I system is installed in the front of the vehicle and in the stowed position is closed by an armored flap, which leans back before shooting.

The OPSN-I product provides, as stated, target detection range up to 14,5 kilometers, and with 6 kilometers allows you to accurately identify the target. We can most likely say, that this product is still intended for aviation, but not for land vehicles.

Also on a modernized version of the complex “Sturm-S” installed indicators of laser radiation and a system for setting an aerosol curtain.
