The first serial large hydrographic catamaran of project 23370G was launched in Crimea “Alexander Firsov”. The solemn ceremony was held at the “Sevastopol Marine Plant”, where was the completion of the boat. After launching, the boat will pass the required mooring lines., running and state tests, after which it will be transferred to the Russian Navy. The transfer of the boat to the customer is scheduled for October this year. It will become part of the Hydrographic Service of the Black Sea Fleet.

As previously reported, the boat itself was built at the KAMPO enterprise in Orekhovo-Zuevo, then for final assembly 8 July was delivered to the Sevastopol Marine Plant.


BGC “Alexander Firsov” laid in August 2019 of the year. It is the second in the series and the first serial after the lead boat. “Michael Kazan”, which became part of the Baltic Fleet in December last year. The boat is named after the hydrograph - Lieutenant Commander Alexander Firsov, who served in World War II.

Vessels of project 23370G are designed to carry out pilotage and hydrographic works, staging (filming) and maintenance of floating warning signs, delivery of service personnel, repair crews, food, fuel and other cargoes to onshore facilities, including those located on the unequipped coast. Boats have the ability, using an echo sounder, to quickly measure depths in places where floating signs are placed.

Modular hydrographic boats of the catamaran type of project 23370G are a new version of the multifunctional vessels of project 23370M. The displacement of the boat is about 140 tonnes. The boats are built in the interests of the Department of Navigation and Oceanography of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for use by the Hydrographic Service of the Russian Navy.
