The first batch of the latest Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifles 5,45 mm entered service with the Far Eastern Higher Combined Arms Command School. This was reported by the press service of the Eastern Military District.
according to the report, AK-12 assault rifles were received as part of the state defense order. In the near future the weapon will be shot, then distributed to educational departments. Nothing is said about the number of machines received.
According to plans of the Russian Defense Ministry, at 2020 year, the armed forces should receive 40 thousand new AK-12 assault rifles.
The first batch of AK-12 in the amount of 2,5 Thousands of pieces of the Ministry of Defense received in December 2018 of the year. About adopting concern machines “Kalashnikov” – AK-12 (caliber 5,45 mm), AK-15 (7,62 mm), as well as the name of the plant V.Degtyareva – AEK-971 (5,45 mm), AEK-973 (7,62 mm), Defense Ministry officially announced in March 2019 of the year.
The Defense Ministry reported, that the army AK-12 caliber 5.45 mm largely replace the AK-74M. Machine developed under the program “warrior” and enters it, as an element of long-term complex equipment of the Armed Forces fighters. AK-12 adopted by all the major combat arms soldiers combined arms formations of land forces, Airborne Troops and the Navy Marine Corps.
