The State Duma explained the statement of the head of Prague-6 on the fault of the Russian Federation for the demolition of the monument to Marshal Konev

When the war with monuments started, then it makes no sense to justify it. About it Federal News Agency told the State Duma deputy Dmitry Novikov, noting, that the initiator of the demolition of the monument to Soviet Marshal Ivan Konev trying to "whitewash" their actions.

Thus, he reacted to the statement of the head of the district of Prague-6 Ondrzej Kolarzha, in which he blamed what happened on Russia. In an interview with local newspaper Parlamentní listy, a Czech official condemns the destruction of monuments, faced by Europe and the United States. Joke, Kolarge admitted “guilty” for starting demolition of monuments around the world, but he explained, what if not for Moscow, then he allegedly did not touch the monument to the Soviet commander.

"No one set himself the task" we must demolish Konev ". Not at all. When we first told the Russians, that we give them a monument, let us say, so that he stands at the embassy, where it will be protected, then they answered several times, that it’s our duty to protect the monument ”, - he said in an interview with reporters.

After that, the vandals tried to demolish the monument, what provoked protests in his defense. Kolarge admitted, that he didn’t want such attention to the monument at the public and therefore ordered to demolish it.

To protect against vandals, signs were placed on the memorial. However, as “explanatory tablets”, containing, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, speculation on Konev’s participation in preparing the deployment of troops to Czechoslovakia in 1968 year, could save the monument from vandalism, the headman did not explain.

The First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Dmitry Novikov noted, that such a headman’s logic is “absolutely perverted”.

“When the war with monuments started, then it makes no sense to justify it. In such statements on Russia’s charge of demolishing the monument,, that he feels the Czechs have a different attitude towards this situation. Anyone, in office, sooner or later forced to look back at public opinion. This is necessary in order, to fulfill their duties effectively and have hope for elections. Anyway, demolition of the monument was carried out against the will of a significant number of Czechs. known, that many of them advocated the preservation of the monument and against dismantling. Today in such a peculiar way, shifting responsibility to Russia, man whitens and protects himself ”, - he said.

In addition, in the Czech Republic, one can now observe the delayed reaction of society to the demolition of the monument., because the population has not forgotten what happened. MP stressed, that the Czech official “has to take it into account and make excuses for his actions”.

"Of course, OK, so that public opinion is expressed in a more active form, when there would be more protesters and they would not allow an act of vandalism. However, the majority shows their position, and politicians have to reckon with this ”, - the interlocutor said FAN.

In addition to the assessment of what happened by the Czech population, there is still “the most severe court of history”, noted parliamentarian.

“In any case, the Soviet people, who defeated fascism, the best monuments will be put. all, who lives in this world, will have to reckon with the obvious: fascism poses a mortal threat to humanity and an attempt to dismantle not only monuments, but the memory of the winners rehabilitates him. Even if initiators do not have such initial target settings, then their actions lead to this. Fascism is a criminal activity, which was condemned by the Nuremberg Tribunal, and its results have not been canceled. I hope, that no one will try to do this ”, - summarized Novikov.

Recall, at 2019 year, members of the district council of Prague-6 adopted a decree on the transfer of the monument to one of the museums, and in its place they decided to establish a memorial to the liberation of Prague. The reason for the rearrangement of the monument was due to, that the memorial to Marshal Konev in the Czech capital was repeatedly desecrated.

The postponement caused a reaction from politicians and society. In particular, Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the decision of Prague, calling him "cynical". The Czech President did not stand aside Milos Zeman, who recognized the decision of the district authorities as “shameful”.
