In the media, there was rather contradictory information about the vulnerability of Russian nuclear submarines of projects 885 "Ash" and 955 "Northwind". The publication specifies, that in a conflict with the United States, they can be destroyed earlier, than leave their bases. It is believed, that the submarines do not have protection at the stage of leaving the base and when moving to a given area.

Litovkin recalled, that the submarines of the Borey project or the Yasen ships go out to the open sea or ocean, only when the safety of the route is fully ensured and Moscow has the means for this. Large ships are involved in any military operation with similar submarines., cruiser, frigates and destroyers. Each vessel has its own task. For example, if there are minefields, then minesweepers do it. There is a threat of attack by enemy submarines? Depth charges are used.
