Alexander Rogers: It's time to punish Google and Youtube for anti-Russian censorship

As many already know, Yesterday YouTube, without explanation, removed the Anna-News channels, "News — Front" and "Crimea-24".

How few know so far, At the same time, the channels of a number of Chinese media and bloggers were also removed..

That is, there is no random arbitrariness of individual resource administrators, a focused and planned action, execution of a political order.

Can we draw any more conclusions from what happened? Of course, can.

1. There is no real democracy and free speech in the USA. You can only say that, what fits into the framework of a profitable mainstream establishment. And if someone (including american journalists) starts saying things, who go beyond this framework - they immediately apply all the power of censorship.

So it was with Alex Jones, so it was with a number of other opposition American and British journalists, this is happening now with Russian and Chinese media.

2. obviously, that the US is losing the information war. If you won, then they would not need such prohibitive measures.

Moreover, they lose it at the level of truth, content, meanings and ideologies.

- It is not possible to keep the image of the USA attractive to the outside world.

- Cannot hide their support for neo-Nazis in Ukraine (whereby even many Americans, whose grandfathers landed in Normandy, they say "How so? This is unacceptable!»).

- It is not possible to hide the criminal and corruption actions of American politicians in different countries.

- It is not possible to refute our agenda at the level of facts and evidence..

As a result, you have to act at the level of the famous picture about Zamovkny Vzhe.

3. At the same time, I am far from hatred. How much stronger are we at the level of content and meanings, we are also weaker at the level of broadcasting tools.

3.1. We don’t have our own YouTube sites yet. Available analogs are dead end, niche or simply do not pull on the technical level.

3.2. Google often manually cuts our news sites out of search - this was the case with Journalistic Truth, RIA FAN and a number of other media. Yandex is gradually pushing google, and need to state, that for a couple of years it’s much easier to find something in it, than the American competitor (including due to active censorship of the latter). But, yet again, Yandex so far remains a local service, not fully global.

Paradoxically, but the search engine is a tool, which is designed to help seek information, - In recent years, it has been actively used by the American authorities to, to hide this very information.

4. I've been talking for years: We need sites! We need platforms and ecosystems!

Can be thrice right, but if no one hears you, there’s no sense.

I use historical examples for clarity. Jan Hus could broadcast from the department of the Prague Cathedral. Martin Luther, respectively, also broadcast from the department of the Wittenberg Castle Church.

Therefore they were heard. And hundreds of others, maybe no less smart and breakthrough, were not heard.

5. Americans have such a propaganda stamp. They always, when they talk about Russian and Chinese media, пишут «state-backed media», "Supported by the state". Like it's something bad. And in every way postulate, that their media are private and independent.

But at the same time, some Radio Liberty, Deutsche Welle or Voice of America annually receive hundreds of millions of dollars in grants from the state.

And the general propaganda budgets of the United States are orders of magnitude greater, than Russia.

6. In this case, the regulator (and this is our ILV) instead of fighting Nazism, fakes and misinformation protects the rights of Western copyright holders.

We have all high-profile cases of fake and libel lately initiated by the prosecutor's office and the Investigative Committee. In general, this is the field of activity of the ILV.

Who instead deals exclusively with, that ban torrents.

Personally, I have repeatedly written to them on the appeal website “here at such addresses in social networks groups, propagandizing Nazism "or" this media in a particular publication published knowingly false information "- and in response there are only unsubscribing.

Spit on the propaganda of Nazism, spit on the distortion of history, spit on open disinformation and calls for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order. Now, if someone watches the Black List series translated by LostFilm, this is a real disaster! And you need to give up all the power of the regulator, To avoid this.

So it turns out, that the defense of Russia in the information space is carried out by partisan enthusiasts with scanty budgets and with the total inaction of the regulator. And against us, media monsters with multi-billion-dollar turnovers and the arbitrariness of platform holders.

P.S. Criticizing - Offer. Therefore, I propose:

1. To put forward an ultimatum to Facebook about the inadmissibility of moderation of the Russian segment from the territory of Ukraine (and I don't care, what is so cheaper) and with the requirement to host servers with personal data of users physically in Russia. Fortunately, we have our own social networks, and without facebook we can easily do.

2. To put forward a google ultimatum on the inadmissibility of censoring search queries and violation of the national legislation of the Russian Federation. Fortunately, search engines are enough, and no one will notice the loss of one of them.

3. To put forward an ultimatum to YouTube about the inadmissibility of censorship and the need to consider controversial issues in courts of Russian jurisdiction.

And in general, it’s time to transparently hint to the “Western partners”, what if they continue to play against the rules, then we will cease to recognize their patents and will not care about protecting the interests of copyright holders (did not like one Mikhalkov).

Stop sitting on the defensive, it's time to go on the counterattack.
