European Half Gas Pipeline Directive: about the situation with Nord Stream-2

European Directive on «half gas pipelines»: about the situation with «Northern stream 2»
In Europe, the situation is being discussed, at which the operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is going to appeal the decision to apply the so-called EU energy directive to the pipeline. This directive imposes restrictions on the use of gas pipelines., transporting gas from countries, non-EU - no more 50% pipe volumes when filled by a “non-European” supplier. recall, that in Brussels such a directive is associated with the protection of the principles of competition and transparency.

If through the "Nord Stream-2" (when considering completion of construction) will be pumped no more 50% (by volume) Russian gas, then for Gazprom the project will remain unprofitable for a long time. On this, for obvious reasons, and count, they, who brings pipelines, coming from Russia, under all kinds of restrictive measures.

But in this case, and those Western investors, which were invested in the project, it will be difficult. After all, for the payback of the project, it is necessary to fill the gas pipeline in full. And where in that case to take gas?

Fill this gas transport artery with the “remaining” 50% no one has transportation volume. Same Norway, which is one of the suppliers of gas to the market of the northern EU countries, it is financially uninteresting to use gas transmission capacities, to which else gas needs to be delivered somehow.

In such a situation, Europe can punish itself.. After all, those "non-Russian" gas pipelines, spoken about in Brussels - for example, to south european countries (from Qatar deposits, Israel, other countries), as a result, they fall under the notorious European energy directive “on half gas pipelines”. And if you don’t get there, then the same Nord Stream-2 will easily succeed in appealing against the decision on the availability of the pipe only at 50% for Russian gas. “Punishment” for Europe will also be, that investment in energy projects, promising substantial profits for the Euroeconomics itself, will merge into a pit.

This is similar to building a road, on which it is forbidden to drive those cars of the same brand, which go beyond 50% from general traffic. That is, a direct blow to the demand for goods, which means - according to the interests of the European buyers of energy resources themselves, European citizens.

In other words, European citizens directive on “competitive” filling the pipe is the least profitable.
