Dominance of Ukraine in the TCG
According to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrey Ermak, Kyiv informed all participants of the Minsk agreements about the decision to expand the representation of the Ukrainian side in the TCG. According to him, participation in the negotiation process of representatives of the Verkhovna Rada and the government of the country will increase their efficiency and improve coordination of Ukrainian authorities.
"Ukraine will be the initiator and dominant party in the negotiations", Yermak noted..
The politician assured, that the Ukrainian authorities are willing to move forward, and not to conduct "years of fruitless negotiations".
“And we are committed to the implementation of the Minsk agreements, but in that part, where it corresponds to the national interests of Ukraine", - said the head of the office of the President of Ukraine.
Besides, Yermak’s proposal also includes Kyiv’s desire to include IDPs from Donbass in the negotiation process within the framework of the TCG in Minsk.
"It is very important, because a lot of people, who live on the territory of the LDNR, received Russian passports. We will recruit displaced people. But these are citizens of Ukraine, residents of Donbass", - he added.
The struggle between Yermak and Medvedchuk
In its turn, Oleg Tsarev, former speaker of the Novorossiya parliament, believes, that Andriy Yermak competes with the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform for Life party Viktor Medvedchuk for the right to be the main negotiator with Russia. In this regard, he offers various ideas on changing the negotiation process within the TCG.
“Viktor Medvedchuk had an alternative project to attract French deputies, Germany, Russia and Ukraine in order to create a platform, which would discuss the problems of their implementation on the basis of the Minsk agreements. Andrey Yermak had nothing to object to this proposal., because deputies have the right to meet and discuss these problems. This would draw European, Russian and Ukrainian politicians into public discourse and gave new life to the Minsk agreements”, - Tsarev explained in an interview with FAN.
However, then the agenda in the negotiation process would be formed by Viktor Medvedchuk, not Andrey Yermak.
"So he tried to take the initiative out of his hands, filling the Minsk negotiation process with deputies of the Verkhovna Rada. In this way, Yermak wanted to say, that it makes no sense to create an advisory board, which could appear on the initiative of Viktor Medvedchuk", - he said.
At the same time, the inclusion of “exclusively Ukrainian deputies in the TCG will not affect the real chances of implementing the Minsk agreements”.
"After all, the deputies, to be included, take a tough anti-Russian stance. Their suggestions are unlikely to be constructive.”, the politician is convinced.
Commenting on Yermak's proposal to include IDPs from Donbass in the negotiations, Tsarev came to the conclusion, that the Ukrainian authorities will choose those, who "ran in the forefront" and, certainly, they will have a negative attitude towards the choice of the people who remained in the Donbass.
“But it is necessary to solve the question of people, who remained, and those who fled from the Donbass have already made their choice. Somehow all these games, which are being conducted around the composition of the parties to the Minsk agreements, aimed at delegitimizing the leaders of the DNR and LNR. the, who wants to solve the problem, always finds a compromise, does not find points, which cannot be negotiated", - expressed the opinion of the ex-deputy of the Rada.
