Lithuania signed a contract for the supply of remotely controlled combat modules Protector Common Remote Weapon Stations (CROWS) for installation on the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle purchased by the Department of Defense (JLTV) 4x4. The number of combat modules is not called.
This contract is part of a larger Norwegian Kongsberg contract with the United States for the supply of Protector CROWS combat modules for the Pentagon., which the, in its turn, will supply part of the BM acquired to Lithuania through the mechanism of the American program of intergovernmental foreign military sales Foreign Military Sales (FMS) along with JLTV SUVs.
On the conclusion of a supply contract for Lithuania 200 American armored SUVs JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle) reported last November. The contract value amounted to 145 million euros, the first armored cars to be delivered to Lithuania by the end of 2021 of the year, and the last - to 2024 year. Technique will adopt Army and Special Forces of the Republic.
It was specified, that under the agreement, the Americans gave Lithuania an option to 300 SUVs, after all 500 US cars tried to sell to the Lithuanian military initially, although this amount is excessive for the Lithuanian army.
The vehicles planned for delivery to Lithuania are equipped with remotely controlled combat modules M153 Common Remote Weapon Stations (CROWS) with a 12.7 mm machine guns and M2 QCB around the clock sighting systems M230 TAC-FLIR. Agreement provides for the delivery of spare parts for armored vehicles and training of personnel of the Lithuanian Army.
