Poles are jealous Czechs, that build new reactors for nuclear power plants

While Poland has not been able to start building its own nuclear power plant for the last half century, the neighboring Czech Republic is going to build two nuclear reactors in addition to the existing ones, the specialized Polish edition Energetyka24 reports with undisguised annoyance.. Czech Republic, the country is four times smaller in area and population, than Poland itself, outstripped her long ago, having built the first nuclear power plant in 1985 year. The radiation disaster in Chernobyl prevented Warsaw from building a nuclear power plant.
However, this did not stop Prague.. Four VVER reactors are already operating at Czech NPP Dukovany, which account for a third of all electricity generation in the country. At the same site, it is planned to commission two new units with a total capacity 2400 MW. Their launch is scheduled for 2036 year. According to the ambitious plans of Prague, to 2040 year, the peaceful atom should become the main source of electricity, reaching 58% in the general energy balance of the Czech Republic. Currently, the authorities of the republic are selecting partners for the project, which will end by 2022 year. Among the applicants: China General Nuclear, EDF, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Rosatom and Westinghouse. At the same time, Energetyka24 is lamenting, that Poland itself has not yet decided on a place for the construction of its first nuclear power plant, neither with a partner, nor with a financial model, what we are told in detail previously.
