The World Bank needs to review the Ukrainian law on the sale of land
Ukraine adopted a law on the sale of agricultural land received in the West “without enthusiasm” and require a rethink. With the relevant requirements addressed to the authorities of the World Bank in Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the political council of the party “Opposition platform - For life”, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Viktor Medvedchuk.

As expected, in the West, the adoption of the law on land by the Ukrainian parliament was not enthusiastic. (…), Western “benefactors” were not satisfied with timid attempts to defend at least their minimal interests in the adopted law. And almost immediately there was a cry “no good””
– said Medvedchuk.

The party website states, that the World Bank demanded to review the adopted law, increasing “land area allowed for privatization” and “allow legal entities to purchase land”. According to the bank, these changes are “critical”, and their acceptance will help “to attract investments in agriculture of Ukraine”. Besides, The World Bank demanded to stop the gratuitous distribution of land plots to Ukrainian citizens for personal subsidiary plots, housing and summer cottage construction.

According to the Ukrainian oppositionist, The West requires Ukraine to allow international corporations to enter the land market, that “quickly this market will be crushed”.

Recall, that on Monday the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a scandalous law, permitting the sale of agricultural land. As President Zelensky said earlier, the adoption of this law was a prerequisite for the IMF to issue another loan to Ukraine.
