floating NPP : what for?

floating NPP : what for?

In similar projects, in addition to demonstrating the capabilities of the state, practical benefits are usually calculated. But in the case of a floating nuclear power plant “Academician Lomonosov” just no practical benefit is visible, even conditionally.

It's a miracle (with our usual mess, change of contractor and other goodies) built 12 years and spent on it 40 billion rubles at the initial 10 – for comparison, the Crimean Bridge cost the Russian Federation 220 billion.
It is not clear for what purpose this crap was originally designed, but most likely for the military, because, that the military crap economic and operational costs – the main thing, for the station to work and provide that, what do you need. This version is indirectly confirmed by, that we are not the first in this topic – at 70 over the years the Americans have built and used at least two such ships.

so here. One of these days a floating nuclear power plant “Academician Lomonosov” lured to Chukotka, to our northernmost city of Pevek, where all the onshore structures for mooring and connecting the NPP to onshore energy have already been built- and heating networks – in a couple of months, the region sitting on a hungry energy ration will be provided with electricity without restrictions, and Pevek is also supplied with heat – this is awesome!
But. Despite the victorious reports and joyful TV reports about “a new era in the development of science and technology” and that, as “Lomonosov” will dramatically change the life of Aboriginal people for the better”, I don't really believe it.

I.e, Aboriginal life will certainly improve, but about “new era” – agitators like a starlet are poisoning! For nothing new, on the contrary, everything is old and very inconvenient to operate : weak point in mooring and laying communications from ship to shore, every 12 years, the nuclear power plant will need to be shut down (putting consumers on starvation rations) and tow behind 7 seas to the factory for repair, in addition, there is a real danger on the topic of accidents (technical factors, the impact of the elements), and one cannot help but think about the possibility of terrorist attacks.

AND, of course all this crap is incredibly expensive to build, and terribly expensive to operate – it will never pay off, you need to understand this.

However, understandably, that exploitation “Lomonosov” in Pevek – fallback, realized thereafter, how for some reason the main version was canceled, for the sake of which this incredible project was launched, so the spent billions are not wasted – now we have our own experience in this topic…

I think, what if the TPP was built in 2014 year, then during the Crimean blackout arranged by the Ukrainians, she would have stood in the port of Kerch next to the city beach – would provide electricity to Crimean facilities of prime importance before construction “energy bridge” from mainland to Crimea…

by the way, “Lomonosov” can also be used as a powerful desalination station, which will become relevant in the same Crimea very soon – the situation with fresh water there is close to catastrophic :

Generally, despite all the ambiguity of the project “Floating nuclear power plants – to the masses”, you should answer the question in the title like this : “Will fit in a large farm!”

GLORY TO RUSSIA!!!
