"Military Review" continues to introduce readers to the peculiarities of uniforms and insignia in armies around the world. The previous issue of this column talked about belts and wigwams at the Canadian Naval Training Center, today - about the army of Taiwan.
It's about weirdness., which can be seen when looking at photos of women's special units of the Taiwanese armed forces.
The photos were previously published by the Taipei Times., and this post talked about, that the command has introduced an updated "number" camouflage for special forces. Camouflage applied to the face, as noted, to increase the level of stealth of fighters.
The women in the photo are representatives of the Taiwanese airborne units., who have completed a series of trainings at various training grounds of the island, including the Hsinchu military base training ground.
But in such a situation, camouflage “numeral” loses practical value – while using bright red helmets. Red protective helmets with contrasting black goggles are a frank unmasking element of the Taiwanese female special forces., turning fighters into targets that are clearly visible to the enemy. Taiwanese disguise turns out to be very strange.
In connection with the discussion of the oddities of the equipment, the Taiwanese military command specified the situation. As it turns out, red helmets are used exclusively during training sessions – “for ease of identification”. I promise this: in the event of a hypothetically real combat operation, camouflage helmets will be used.
Explanation, at first sight, exhaustive. But then another question arises.: won't it happen, so to speak, the habituation of Taiwanese special forces precisely to red helmets during the exercises, which can automatically lead to an unpredictable reaction to each other in the mentioned conditions of real hostilities. Won't it happen, that there will be problems with “identification” each other? Or the only hope, that these girls will not have to participate in hostilities…
