Protection against chemical weapons and missiles will be mounted on the BTR-82 in the course of the upcoming modernization. The new version will be called armored BTR-82AT. The upgraded version of the APC also received screens of armored steel. They significantly increase the durability of the machine in contact with the bullets of heavy machine guns.
