According to the factory edition, new BDK, which are planned to be delivered to the customer in 2023-2024 years, may differ from those shown in the picture. The reason for this was, what ships “Basil Trushin” and “Vladimir Andreev” were laid even before the final approval of the revised project 11711 for the construction of a large landing craft of the second series. Currently, due to the lack of technical documentation for the hull at the shipyard “Amber” cannot start cutting metal to form ship hulls, although all the preparatory work has already been done. However, the company is confident, that Nevskoe PKB, who is the designer of the BDK, will provide the plant with high-quality documentation, which will keep within “very, very tough (newspaper quote “Forward!”) construction time of ships.
Many military experts and bloggers drew attention to the projection of the new BDK, naval writers. As NAVY_KORABEL writes on his blog, the hangar of the new BDK of the second series will accommodate four helicopters of the Ka-52K and Ka-29 dimensions (at the BDK of the first series “Ivan Gren fits only two helicopters). At the same time, it is possible to simultaneously take off and land two Ka-52K or Ka-29, or one more oversized Mi-8 helicopter (circle with letter “M”, how to “Kuznetsov”). Meanwhile, it was reported, that due to the insufficient number of large landing ships of the new construction of the project 11711, which to 2024 year, it is planned to enter the fleet in a total of four units, and significant obsolescence of the landing ships of earlier projects, it was decided to start the modernization program for the large landing ship project 775 Polish-built.
As reported by Mil.Press FlotProm, citing two knowledgeable industry sources, the decision was made to extend the service life of the project's large landing gear 775 for another ten years. According to the available information, a program of import substitution of outdated foreign-made mechanisms has already been developed. This problem is dealt with by the 51st Central Design and Technological Institute of Ship Repair, which provides repair of ships and vessels of foreign construction, available in the Russian Navy.
The Russian Navy said, that the extension of the service life of a Polish-built large landing ship, is the only way to save the amphibious forces of the fleet. At the moment, the Russian Navy includes 15 landing ships, built in the Polish Gdansk with 1974 by 1985 years.
